As kids, Sunday School teaches us so much. We learn Bible stories and biblical lessons, we experience a sense of community, and of course, we have a blast! For many of us, Sunday School was the highlight of our week--or, at least, one of the highlights! But what is it that makes Sunday School so special?
Let’s start by talking about one of the most important elements: learning Bible stories. Every Sunday, children in Sunday School work together to learn different stories from the Bible. It’s amazing how, even with so much going on in our lives, kids can quickly remember the stories that were shared during Sunday School.
The Bible stories come alive when the lessons are taught in a fun and engaging way. Kids are asked to draw or act out stories or answer questions about the stories in teams or as a class. It helps them not only recall what they’ve learned but also to better understand why and how the characters behaved the way they did.
Then there’s the sense of community that’s fostered in Sunday School. That time spent with classmates brings about a family-like connection and children come to rely on each other. It’s very inspiring to watch how caring and supportive they are with one another and how they never fail to encourage each other.
We all wish we could relive our Sunday School days in some way and that’s why it’s so important to encourage kids in our family, community, and church to attend Sunday School. It’s more than just a Bible story class-it’s a place where kids can grow spiritually, form meaningful relationships, and, oh yes, let’s not forget, have a ton of fun!
