First, what does it mean to be saved? It means you are completely forgiven for your sins. You accept Jesus’ perfect sacrifice on the cross. You are no longer guilty and condemned. The Bible says the wages of sin is death:
Romans 6:23 - For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.
Jesus paid the price for us. He paid a debt that we could never pay! He “traded places” with us. He took the sins of the world upon Himself, even though He was sinless.
2 Corinthians 5:21 - For he hath made him to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in him.
He rose again three days later. He was victorious over death!
Revelation 1:18 - I am he that liveth, and was dead; and, behold, I am alive for evermore, Amen; and have the keys of hell and of death.
Salvation means you’re going to spend eternity in Heaven. You’re saved from the torment of an eternity in Hell.
God made salvation so simple for us. All you have to do is believe that Jesus is the Son of God, died on the cross for your sins, and rose from the grave after three days. Once you’ve accepted Jesus as your Saviour, you then confess your belief with your mouth:
Romans 10:8-10…
8 But what saith it? The word is nigh thee, even in thy mouth, and in thy heart: that is, the word of faith, which we preach;
9 That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.
10 For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.
He gives you a brand new fresh start in life. There is no condemnation, guilt, or shame!
Romans 8:1 - There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit.
Pray this prayer if you want to be saved:
God, I know that I am a sinner, and I can never come to you on my own. You sent your Son, Jesus, to die in my place and save me. Please forgive me for all my sins in the name of Jesus. I want to be saved. I make you Lord over my life. Please come and dwell in my heart. Please send the Comforter (Holy Ghost) to lead, guide, and help me. Amen.
Ok, you’ve asked God to forgive you. Now, you have to believe that you are saved. You have to put your faith and trust in what Jesus did on the cross for you. You need to confess Him with your mouth. Don’t keep this wonderful news to yourself! Share it. Find a good Bible-believing Bible-teaching church. Fellowship with your brothers and sisters in Christ. Learn about God. You’ll find this increases your faith. In fact, you may even move a mountain or two:
Mark 11:23 - or verily I say unto you, That whosoever shall say unto this mountain, Be thou removed, and be thou cast into the sea; and shall not doubt in his heart, but shall believe that those things which he saith shall come to pass; he shall have whatsoever he saith.
Let us know if you’ve prayed this prayer. We’d love to hear from you. Keep on Keepin’ on for Jesus!
